Why are van Esch and Functionals becoming a single brand?
van Esch and Functionals are currently two separate brands within one family company. Over the last few years, van Esch and Functionals have grown increasingly closer together. The brands share a passion for metal and artisanship with attention for detail. And make functional and timeless products that last a lifetime. Now that the third generation of van Esch is at the wheel as well, it feels like a natural step forward to blend van Esch and Functionals into one rock-solid brand. A brand with which we are prepared for the future. With more focus to serve our customers even better.
What does the new Functionals stand for?
Our brand promise is: ‘Organising Spaces’. We believe that comfortable working and living starts in tidy and organised surroundings. After all, a well-organised space provides calm and space, around you and in your head. Functionals sets a workspace, home, changing room, reception area, cloakroom or showroom to work for you with functional and carefully designed products that last a lifetime. Together with leading designers from across Europe, our family company has developed products that excel in simplicity, artisanship and sustainability. The majority of which are manufactured in our own factory in Goirle, the Netherlands.
Why the name Functionals?
We will continue under the name Functionals because this name describes the nature of our products perfectly: they are functional and help to organise spaces. Above all, Functionals has an international image, which is in line with our international ambitions.
Why were van Esch and Functionals two separate brands within one family company?
Our story all began in 1972 with van Esch Metaal BV, founded by Hendricus van Esch. In 1988, his sons Ad and Simon took the helm and van Esch grew to become the ultimate coat rack specialist. Through collaborating with forward-thinking designers, Ad and Simon saw opportunities for creating other timeless products such as tables, chairs and lighting. Which is why they launched a new label in 2009: Functionals. Over the last few years, van Esch and Functionals have grown increasingly closer together. And it feels like a natural step forward to blend them into one rock-solid brand.

Collection and customer service
What will change after January 2025?
In January 2025, van Esch and Functionals will continue under the name Functionals. We will launch a stunning new website, logo and house style. Of course, you can still count on the service, quality and artisanship you have come to expect from us. The two brands have operated from the same premises in Goirle for years and share a back office. We will do everything in our power to ensure that the transition takes place as smoothly as possible. The ordering process and your contact will remain the same.
What will the new Functionals collection look like?
In January 2025, we plan to combine the Functionals and van Esch collections under a single name: Functionals. So the collection will expand. Most products will remain available, we will bid farewell to a small selection. We will also launch a number of new colours and bid farewell to a few other colours.

No, the new colours will only become available after 2025.
Will you be launching new products in the near future?
Shortly after the launch of the new Functionals in January 2025, we will launch a beautiful new product. We cannot reveal anything yet, but keep an eye on your inbox!
Does van Esch and Functionals becoming one influence the price of products?
No. Changes in prices are based on market trends and cost developments and we always communicate them transparently. In the ways you have come to expect from us. As a consequence of increasing wages and rising procurement costs, we will adjust our prices in January 2025. You will receive information about this very soon.
Can I receive the new logo and images for the new collection now?
The new logo and images will be available from the launch of the new Functionals in January 2025 in a single download package. We will keep you informed as and when.
How will these changes affect the customer service?
You can rely on the service you have come to expect from us. For many years, van Esch and Functionals have operated from the same premises in Goirle and share a back office. So from January 2025 you can contact your current account manager with questions or to place an order
Will the ordering process be affected by these changes?
The ordering process will remain the same. Resellers can email their orders to info@functionals.com starting from January 2025.
What are the new contact details?
We remain located in the Edisonstraat 5 in Goirle. From January 2025, we will transition to the new website www.functionals.com.
